Since 2002, ChoicePoint Cares has provided free or low-cost background screens on more than two million potential nonprofit employees and volunteers. Of these individuals, many of whom would have otherwise moved undetected among our most vulnerable populations, more than 100,000 had undisclosed criminal records. More than 500 were registered sex offenders seeking to work or volunteer in youth-serving organizations.

The numbers tell us that every 43 hours a convicted sex offender attempts to get within striking distance of our children. This is not a random correlation or a statistical aberration, but a snapshot of predators purposefully stalking their prey - our innocent sons and daughters.
